The PLOM Disease.

Some years ago I met Zig Ziglar at a seminar here in North Carolina. Zig is one of my heros so that made it a great day.

One point that he made that day that I'll always remember is what he calls the PLOM disease. So many walk around with it and spread it around. You can catch this disease just by being around it for too long.

What is the PLOM disease?

PLOM stands for (Poor Little Old Me) Do you know a person that has the PLOM disease? You know the people I'm talking about. If you make the mistake and ask how they are doing, they start a list of reasons and complaints why they are where they are in life and how bad it all is. Les Brown says that 20% of the people that ask how you are, really don't care, and 80% are so glad it happens to you.

The best way to fight the PLOM disease is to take a personal inventory. Would you trade your job, your eyes, your legs, your freedom, the people you love and the people that love you for things to be better?

Og Mandino suggest when we start to feel down, we should take the morning paper, turn to the obituary and look at all the people that would trade situations with you in a minute.

Action Steps.

1. Stay away from the people with the PLOM disease.

2. Take personal inventory.

3. Take control of your life.

4. Notice all the people that really have problems to deal with compared to yours.
